Main duties of the job
As a Phlebotomist at Lymington Hospital, part of University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, you play an important role in delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-focused care. Your main responsibility is to collect blood samples accurately and professionally, helping provide reliable results that support timely diagnosis and treatment.
The role makes a direct contribution to patient safety and experience, as high-quality phlebotomy is essential to effective laboratory testing and smooth patient pathways. Through compassionate care, attention to detail, and adherence to quality standards, you help support the Trust's commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
You will report to the Phlebotomy Manager and work closely with fellow phlebotomists, ward and clinic teams, and laboratory staff. Teamwork, communication, and shared responsibility are central to ensuring patients receive consistent, respectful, and efficient care throughout their diagnostic journey.

This post is two days per week, working 07:15 to 17:00, offering an excellent opportunity to balance work with other commitments. The role is based at Lymington Hospital, with occasional travel to Southampton General Hospital for training and development.
No previous phlebotomy experience is required, as full training and support will be provided.
