Main duties of the job

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader Phlebotomist to join Lymington Hospital, part of University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

This role provides day-to-day leadership and clinical support to the phlebotomy team, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-focused services within a community hospital setting. The post holder will lead by example, supporting staff development, maintaining service standards, and promoting a positive team culture.

The role plays a key part in improving patient experience and diagnostic outcomes by ensuring high standards of phlebotomy practice, supporting efficient patient pathways, and reducing pre-analytical errors. Through effective leadership, the post contributes to Trust objectives around quality, safety, and workforce development.

The post reports to the Phlebotomy Manager and works closely with pathology, ward, and outpatient teams at Lymington Hospital, as well as wider laboratory colleagues.

  • Cannulation and Venesection clinical skills qualification or equivalent.
