Main duties of the job
The Wessex Neurological Centre (WNC) is looking for a highly specialised clinical physiologist to join our neurophysiology service. You would be joining a vibrant and friendly neurophysiology team providing neurophysiology services for the local population and the regional neurosciences centre within University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, serving a population of over three million people across the South and the Channel Islands.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of five consultant neurophysiologists and two specialist registrars, working alongside our team of Physiologists to deliver a comprehensive neurophysiology service. In addition to routine outpatient NCS, evoked potential and EEG diagnostic activity, we provide inpatient services for the WNC (including the Neuro, General and Paediatric Intensive Care Units), Paediatric Neurology and the Neonatal Unit. We have both adult and paediatric Videotelemetry beds.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
? The performance of routine neurophysiological diagnostic tests such as EEGs, nerve conduction studies and evoked potentials in the department, on the wards or ICU areas.? To perform advanced or specialist tests ambulatory EEG, videotelemetry or melatonin sleep EEGs. Assisting or solely responsible for spinal intraoperative monitoring (banding dependant).? To participate in teaching and training of junior staff.

- Consolidated post qualification experience in a technical role within a cardiology department (providing evidence of competency achievement)
- A definite awareness of the boundaries in which to operate with an appreciation of own limitations.
- Dexterity, co-ordination and sensory skills for the use of diagnostic equipment often under time limitations e.g. when performing tests on children.
Desirable
- HCPC / AHCS / RCCP registration
- Experience of research and development and/or clinical audit
- Teaching and training experience.
- Management experience.
