Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for a Speciality Doctor/Specialist Doctor (depending on previous experience) post in Paediatric Oncology and Haematology based at University Hospital Southampton. The Paediatric Oncology Haematology Unit in Southampton is a busy department with a strong track record in patient-centred care, clinical trials, immunotherapy and quality improvement. The post offers exposure to all of these, and experience of solid tumours, leukaemia and bone marrow failure. The post-holder will have excellent opportunities for training, teaching and quality improvement and to develop a breath of paediatric oncology skill. The applicant should have some previous experience in paediatrics, but previous experience in paediatric oncology or haematology is not essential. There are no laboratory duties connected to this post. There is no on-call commitment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Duties will be shared with speciality doctors and paediatric trainees within department, and will include (with appropriate training):

  • Day to day management of haematology / oncology in patients

The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Specialty Doctors England (2021) Salary will be assessed in line with terms and conditions. Travelling expenses will not be paid for attending interview.
