Main duties of the job
You will work closely with Trauma Consultants and other colleagues within the Trust to provide a seamless trauma service for our patient group.
University Hospital Southampton is the MTC for the Wessex Trauma Network. the Trauma and Orthopaedic department provides 24 hour excellence in trauma care, and specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic services through an enthusiastic and dedicated team of Consultants

Duties for this post will include but are not restricted to: Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of trauma and elective patients To share with colleagues responsibility for the day-to-day management of trauma patients Cover for colleagues annual leave and ortho authorised absences Any responsibility that relates to delivery of special interest To undertake all clinical duties appropriate to the grade of Specialty Doctor including outpatient clinics, operating lists and ward rounds. To engage with service improvement To take responsibility for performance measures, both individually and across the department To work flexibly when required to manage peaks of demand, within agreed acceptable limits
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Specialty Doctors England (2021) Salary will be assessed in line with terms and conditions.
Travelling expenses will not be paid for attending interview.

- GMC registration with a licence to practise

- FRCS (T&O)
- MRCS or equivalent

- Level 3 competence in core trauma procedures
- Publications in peer review journals

- Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
- Previous experience in T&O at SHO or equivalent level
