Main duties of the job

Are you a senior fellow looking to progress in your career in ear nose and throat (ENT) surgery? We have a fantastic opportunity for a post CCT seniors fellow in paediatrics ENT surgery to join our great team.As a regional entre we can offer you the chance to work in different subspecialties.

The paediatric fellowship is for 1 year with a busy clinical workload including all aspects of paediatric ENT. It involves significant MDT interactions and exposure to secondary and tertiary level paediatric airway disease/rhinology/otorhinolaryngology and head and neck pathology.

You will work in a team of 13 consultants, 6 specialist registrars, 5 fellow grade and 1 foundation year based in Southampton general hospital and Royal south Hants hospital. We have close relationship with Salisbury and Winchester to support each others on call.

Job responsibilities

You will work around a team of 13 consultants, 5-6 Specialist Registrars, 5 fellow Grade and 1 FY1 based in Southampton General Hospital and RSH. We have a close relationship with Salisbury and Winchester hospitals to support each others on call.

You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of inpatients/ emergencies and will undertake clinical work in the Outpatient Department and in the operating theatre under the supervision of more senior staff. In addition, you will participate in the multi-disciplinary educational and audit programmes of the Unit.

The department has close university links and abundant opportunities for research. Flexible working is available to exploit these.

WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR

FRCS (ORL) or equivalent CCT (ORL) and GMC will be required for this post.Certification or instructor status in ATLS and ALS, Previous experience of working in the NHS. Evidence of previous training in Otorhinolaryngology.Minimum of four years in the registrar or staff grade and / or speciality doctor grade, at least two of which have been in the appropriate speciality.

Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists).Successful candidates will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors, and there will be a named educational supervisor assigned at the start of the post. The opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is highly supported and encouraged by the Trust, with options available to take study leave. All licensed doctors must meet the GMC requirements for revalidation and there will be an annual appraisal to support this process.Grades for Trust appointed (non-training) fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular.Basic salary detailed below plus any additional remuneration (as applicable) for hours set out in the doctors work schedule (e.g. additional hours, weekend allowance, and any hours which attract enhanced pay)
