Main duties of the job
We are excited to offer a Clinical Technologist post in Radiation Protection. The role supports all the work of the group, ionising and non-ionising radiation protection, Radiology physics support and radioactive materials management.
Radiation Protection Group sits within the Medical Physics Department based Southampton General. Our role is to support the Trust and external clients in ionising and non-ionising radiation protection and diagnostic radiology physics. The group currently supports a wide range of medical and non-medical healthcare organisations across Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Channel Islands. We work closely with Trust departments to help develop services using X-ray, radioactive materials, lasers and UV systems.

This Band 4 Clinical Technologist role primarily supports administrative functions in the Radiation Protection group, such as dosimetry service, booking audit and QA visits, and coordinating training activities with the admin team. The post holder will play an important role in managing day-to-day interactions with clients inside and outside the hospital. Basic technical knowledge of radiation protection services and how they are organised would be advantageous. There is a limited opportunity for practical involvement in radiation protection and diagnostic radiology physics in this post.
