Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic Paediatric & Strabismus locum consultant to join our dynamic team in the Eye Unit, University Hospital Southampton NHS foundation trust.
Southampton Eye Unit is a tertiary referral centre for many complex paediatric and strabismic problems in Hampshire and the wider regions. We support a busy general paediatric service in the hospital including paediatric neuro-oncology, neurology & neonatal services as well as providing tertiary uveitis, genetic and oculomotility expertise.
The ideal candidate will hold FRCOphth or equivalent and full GMC registration with a licence to practice. Experience in treating Paediatric Ophthalmic conditions including screening and treatment of ROP & the clinical/ surgical management of strabismus is essential.
The unit is very well supported by orthoptists & optometrists, retinal imaging & electrophysiology.You will join a wider team including 3 other Paediatric Ophthalmology Consultants and allied health professionals.
