Main duties of the job

Southampton Childrens Hospital is delighted to offer the opportunity to join the General Paediatric team for a versatile, talented clinician with expertise in tertiary allergy.

The successful applicant will be an integral part of the both the general paediatric and tertiary allergy services.

The successful applicant will contribute to the provision of the General Paediatric group job plan which provides consultant of the week, acute paediatric support in the Paediatric short stay unit and paediatric emergency department, Out-patients (both routine and urgent), primary care hub clinics & MDT.

Tertiary allergy duties include clinic, day ward and immunotherapy service lead.

Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a license to practice

  • Registered with GMC licence to practice
  • Tertiary paediatric allergy training & experience
  • Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health
  • APLS Certification or equivalent
  • Level 3 training in child protection

Desirable

  • General Paediatric experience at Consultant level
  • Qualifications, in teaching management or research
  • Specialist GMC registration in Paediatrics either already acquired or within 6 months of acquisition

Previous or relevant experience

Essential

  • Has completed or will be within 6 months of completion of paediatric training
  • Paediatric specialty experience in tertiary allergy including immunotherapy

Aptitudes and skills

  • Evidence and ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and colleagues (verbal and written communication skills in English)
  • Knowledge, clinical and technical skills to provide a consultant led service in general paediatrics
