University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
Please see below for detailed job description of the role.
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited for a Senior Fellow in Cardiac Anaesthesia and Intensive Care commencing October 2024.
This post is based in the Wessex Cardiac Centre, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. The unit is one of the busiest UK cardiac centres with some of the lowest mortality rates. The ITU has 16 beds and there are 22 all day cardiac theatre lists per week.
This post combines clinical duties with an excellent teaching programme and research opportunities. The clinical component provides training in adult (and potentially paediatric) cardiac anaesthesia and adult cardiac intensive care and includes on-call cover for the adult cardiac intensive care unit.
Southampton has a long established, successful fellowship in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and intensive care programme. There is formal consultant-led weekly teaching in cardiac anaesthesia, ITU and transoesophageal echocardiography. Extensive support and training is given to those undertaking TOE accreditation. Further details about the cardiac anaesthesia department may be found at www.southamptoncardiacanaesthesia.com.
There will be opportunity to gain some experience in ECMO and other mechanical circulatory assistance, but we are not a cardiac transplant or ECMO centre.
We have two posts open - x2 12 Month contracts.
