Main duties of the job
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) has a busy, complex cardiac and congenital cardiac surgery service and our large perfusion team sits at the heart of our success in supporting safe patient care and some of the best patient outcomes in England. We are looking for expert Senior Clinical Perfusion Scientists (8a) to join the team within our Cardiovascular and Thoracic care group which is acknowledged as a regional centre of excellence. Successful candidates will be conversant with cardiac surgical techniques performed on neonatal, paediatric and adults, including cell salvage, point of care blood analysis, ECMO, Percutaneous Hepatic perfusion and research. We do however welcome applications who do not yet have this clinical exposure and we are proud to offer full and comprehensive training.
Currently, the cardiac team undertakes 1800 adults and 400 paediatric procedures per year across our five cardiac theatres. You must be accredited by the Society of Perfusionists of Great Britain & Ireland and registered with the College of Clinical Perfusionists of Great Britain & Ireland. This role attracts an addition Recruitment and Retention Premium (see details below), a contribution to relocation costs for eligible candidate as well as an exceptional NHSP rate for additional shifts.
