Main duties of the job

UHS Digital are looking for a Specialist Information Analyst to join their Data Flows team. It is an opportunity to join our Data & Analytics colleagues and help make a difference to patients, staff, and the organisation through the provision of analytics, data, and insight.You will be responsible for creating and managing reporting for billing, alongside data analysis and visualisations. Using patient-based data sets and business intelligence reporting software you will support UHS business requirements. These include the NHS Payment scheme and meeting contract reporting needs that underpin our patient care.

We will expect you to develop a detailed understanding of a wide range of patient data collections from across the Trust, and from external sources. You should be prepared to investigate and resolve data quality issues and any incidents associated with them. There will be opportunities to modernise data flows in your area of responsibility through supported development using Power BI, SQL, and Python.

You will be able to work alongside a wide range of people from across UHS Digital, Trust headquarters, clinical services and other NHS organisations.

  • Able to manage and prioritise own workload and work to often tight or pressured deadlines.

Qualifications / training required

Essential

  • Educated to degree standard in a numerate discipline or has the relevant work-based experience

Desirable

  • Evidence of continuous professional development in role

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential

  • Experience working in an information analysis or reporting focused role.
  • Able to demonstrate use of corporate databases and multi-user environments for reporting and dataset production to a high standard
  • Able to demonstrate experience of report writing and producing analytics for senior management and operational staff.
  • Able to demonstrate proficient user of Microsoft Office products for analytics and operational management
  • Able to show a working knowledge of report creation using SQL.
  • Experience of NHS information requirements such as mandatory returns, reporting data sets and standards

  • Experience of NHS information governance, data quality assurance and validation processes
  • Experience of NHS information reporting for billing and payment schemes - including Secondary Uses Service (SUS) and Payment by Results (PBR) dataflows
  • Knowledge of Patient Administration Systems (PAS) and other patient based or clinical systems
  • Use of reporting tools (such as SAP BI or Power BI) for creating reports and dataset output
