Main duties of the job
We are looking for a team member with a qualification and experience in editing. You will be responsible for reviewing our complaint response letters before they are sent to our Chief Executive to review and sign. This important step ensures that our letters comply with our style guide, and are of a high quality. Sometimes, there will be a need to provide education and feedback to the team about letter writing and grammar, so you will need to feel comfortable doing this.
Although this is a part-time role, ideally, we need this service three days a week, ideally on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so that our timescale to respond to patients and families is not unduly delayed. You could work three x five hour days, or, five x three hour days. The role is suitable for hybrid working, so after initial training, there would be an opportunity for some home working.
You will be part of a small team, with a Complaints Manager, three Complaint Coordinators and yourself. Finding a person with the right skill set and a friendly personality is very important to us.

Your role will be to edit these letters so that they comply with our Trusts style guide, check for spelling, grammar, format, and jargon, and that all the questions have been answered in laymans terms. Ideally, this needs to be done on the day you receive the task.
You will need to be able to provide training sessions to new team members and help them write complaint response letters in accordance with our Trusts style guide. Sometimes additional training sessions will be required to teach specific areas of writing, for example, syntax.
You will be responsible for maintaining the Trusts Style Guide for writing and developing training material, and occasionally there may be related projects to become involved in.
What were looking for - We would love someone with a bubbly, friendly personality, who is able to help us perfect our letters to patients and their families. Being able to communicate to a high standard, verbally and in writing, is essential. Having a qualification in editing is desirable. Flexibility around working as many days a week as possible would also be a bonus.
