Main duties of the job

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Project Manager to join an award-winning and dynamic Capital Projects Team who will oversee the end-to-end planning and delivery of a wide range of capital projects.The post holder will work across the Trust, taking on responsibility for complex capital and infrastructure projects, alongside smaller charitably funded works.Key Responsibilities

  • Support and advise wider Estates & Capital Development Team (including DECD, DDECD, HEP, HEM) in line with Trust governing objectives and wider best practices, to achieve long-term, best value, quality service provision, which anticipates and satisfies its customers' needs, and is for the benefit of patients, staff and clinical service delivery.
  • Take predominant responsibility for the development of project construction, coordination, management, maintenance and compliance strategies and logistics solutions for projects up to c.£25 million. Ensuring key project objectives are achieved in terms of specific performance, time, cost and quality.
  • Take the lead in liaison and communicating with a range of individuals key to both the project and wider hospital to ensure information is shared and acted on efficiently.
  • Manage and inspire in-house staff and a professional network of consultants, suppliers, and contractors, to improve value and outcomes and optimise overall performance and delivery.
  • Ensure documentation is in place both for project/programme management and also for risk/insurance compliance.

Qualifications / training required

Essential

  • Specialist works and building knowledge to Degree level
  • Qualified as Architect/Chartered Surveyor/Structural Engineer/ Civil Engineer/Quantity Surveyor to Masters level or equivalent
  • Evidence of further structured study as a Project Manager.
  • Trained in specifics such as H&S/CDM, design and project management.
  • Membership of APM or equivalent

Desirable

  • Demonstration of a broad range of awareness and training courses in the building and construction fields.
  • Membership of RIBA/RICS/ICE/or equal.

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential

  • Substantial demonstrable experience in architecture, building or construction management, including all stages of construction projects and project management.
  • Management of delegated budgets and works and fee contracts tested by competitive tender.

Desirable

  • To have managed consultant and construction contracts from design to completion.
  • Experience of engaging with in-house engineering or facilities functions plus Statutory Authorities and Dept of Health.
