Main duties of the job

Are you an experienced OT or Physio looking to gain experience working with patients who have vascular conditions, including amputees?

University Hospital Southampton (UHS) is looking for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to support the team alongside the existing senior staff.

The post is focused on delivering person-centred care across a 7-day service, through enhancing function and quality of life. This includes supporting vascular patients on the acute wards, as well as supporting them pre- and post-operatively, including working in our Therapy Out-patient gym and undertaking home visits to enable discharge to an appropriate destination. This is the perfect opportunity to utilise your clinical, managerial and leadership skills.

This is a 6 month fixed term appointment supporting maternity leave., which may have the potential to be extended, depending on service changes.

This post is part of the wider Therapy services department. You will have many opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge through our in-service training. You will be part of a large department of over 290 wte Therapy staff including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy support staff, so will have peer support available to you.

UHS is a fast-paced acute environment where effective communication, prioritisation, and teamwork are essential. Our focus is early assessment and complex discharge planning, with follow up in our Therapy Out-patient setting. You will be working as part of a small team of OTs and Physios, as well as a team of therapy support staff. We also support student therapists all year round.

In order to maintain patient flow through our hospital we run our therapy services across 7-days, including weekends and Bank holidays, on a rota basis, so flexible working is required from all staff.
