Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen to join a busy friendly team within Linen & Post Services.
You will be responsible for the timely delivery and top-up of linen across the SGH and PAH sites professionally and efficiently. Also the delivery and collection of Post and Health Records across both sites including all University departments.
The post holder will be responsible for entering data on daily requirements from ward areas into the stock control systems using an Android tablet device.

Job responsibilities
Linen
- The topping up and delivery of linen and scrubs items to the ward linen cupboards and non-ward areas.
- Data entering of daily linen requirements from ward areas ensuring accurate recording onto a stock control system using either a computer or Android tablet device.
- To ensure that linen stock held at ward & department level is regularly rotated and reviewed so that they remain appropriate in terms of stock holding and range.
- Assist in the daily monitoring of linen quality, reporting any concerns immediately to the Linen & Post Services Manager/Supervisor.
- Assisting with the transfer of linen from the linen holding areas to the linen room.
- Identifying and resolving stock issues.
- Answering the telephone and responding to requests for linen supplies.
Post
- To participate in the sorting of all posts including pathological specimens both internal and external mail in line with delivery and collection schedules.
- Secure collection and delivery of posts in line with the Trusts Information Governance.
- To participate in sorting and timely delivery and collection of Health Records/Scanning folders.
- Ensure records of expenditure including Royal Mail, couriers, parcel post, recorded and registered mail are maintained and auditable as directed.
- Ensure that all external mail is dispatched promptly as directed, a same-day service being the majority service requirement.
- To participate in franking mail in line with schedules.
- Identify and investigate and process any "badly addressed mail", or "staff not known" mail, and if unable to process pass it to the Post Room Chargehand/Supervisor for further investigation.
- To identify any "high volume non-trust trade mail" or company catalogues and pass to Linen & Post Chargehand/Supervisor for actioning.
- To courteously and efficiently receive enquiries over the telephone, resolving queries where possible or passing messages on to the appropriate person.
- Liaising with service users in the pursuance of identifying badly addressed, or "staff not known" mail.
