Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Acute Surgery team within the Surgery Care Group as a Locum Consultant Surgeon in GI and Acute Surgery with a 10-12 PA job plan for one year. You should be able to manage an undifferentiated General Surgical take based in a busy teaching hospital and major trauma centre and should have a subspecialist GI interest.
You will be part of a team of 8 Consultants (two sub teams of four) alternating weeks of elective GI practice and weeks of managing the General Surgical take Monday to Friday midday (Weekend take is managed by other teams within the GI subspecialty consultant team)
There is a rolling 8 week rota alternating between acute and elective weeks. The 4 Acute weeks comprise 2 weeks of managing the take, 1 week of Ambulatory care and 1 week of cross cover. There is a 4 night on call commitment on an 8 week cycle, weekdays only, and spread on different weeks.
