Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic innovative clinical technologist (engineering) to join our radiotherapy electronics team. Experienced candidates will be appointed at Band 6. We will also consider appointing a newly qualified apprentice at Band 5 who will have bespoke training both inhouse and at Elekta to develop skills to provide technical support to routine and emerging radiotherapy services in our friendly dynamic team. Once the training and competencies are achieved, the appointee will progress to Band 6. The centre has 7 Elekta linacs with image guided and surface guided capability over 2 sites at Southampton and Basingstoke. Service cover is between 7 am and 8pm with oncall at weekends. We have six RT engineers who will support with training and supervision. Our staff have regular opportunities for training and development on new technology and project work is encouraged.

  • 5 GCSE's Grade C Maths, English Language & Science or equivalent.
  • 2 A-Levels in Science related subjects or equivalent (e.g. BTEC HNC/HND in applied Sciences or Electrical Engineering).
  • Evidence of Level 6 learning (e.g BSc. Healthcare Practitioner Degree or BEng)

Desirable

  • Specialist Linear Accelerator experience and knowledge gained through formal manufacturers training courses.

Previous or relevant experience

Essential

  • Practical experience and understanding of complex devices.
  • Maintenance of equipment with fault finding to component level
