Job summary

Clinical Oncology at University Hospital Southampton is a busy and successful department providing a regional multidisciplinary service for Head and Neck, Skull Base and CNS tumours including stereotactic and other advanced radiotherapy techniques. We are looking for a Specialist to join our service and work alongside our inspiring consultant and multidisciplinary teams.

The role will focus on site-specific care in the outpatient and radiotherapy departments and will also include contributing to inpatient care. The post will provide training and experience in these specialised areas of Clinical Oncology including advanced radiotherapy techniques and systemic anti-cancer therapies. The post-holder will provide an expert and autonomous level of practice, where appropriate, in keeping with the Specialist level of the role.

Candidates without detailed site-specific experience are encouraged to apply and may be considered for a Specialty Doctor level post in the first instance.

A doctor appointed to this grade:

  • Shall have full registration and Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council; and
  • Shall have completed a minimum of 12 years medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades. Equivalent years experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will be accepted.

Shall meet the specialist grade capabilities criteria set out in the terms and conditions

Salary will be assessed in line with terms and conditions £83,945 £95,275
