This service delivers responsive support to those who are facing loss or have experienced a bereavement at UHS.
The role is a holistic emotional support role, working across all care divisions, to deliver support to family members and patients who are nearing or have reached end of life.
The post holder will deliver emotional support and signposting to further sources of support for patients, family members and carers who are experiencing emotionally upsetting, challenging, and traumatic experiences related to care and treatment, or end of life and death.

- Degree or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience working with bereaved people
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, challenge healthcare professionals and advocate for families where needed
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-motivated and reliable
- Basic computer skills
- Effective time management
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and nurture positive working relationships
- Ability to manage stressful situations
- Ability to escort and support relatives when viewing a body
Desirable
- Level 4 or above BACP counselling qualification
- Knowledge of death related topics e.g. post mortem consent/organ retention, death registration, funerals
- Previous experience in the NHS
