Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, enthusiastic, dynamic individual to join our established Advanced Critical Care Practitioner team in General ICU as a trainee.
The Successful applicant will have to commit to participating in and successful completion of an academic and clinical training programme, leading to an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (Critical Care) and membership with the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine. There will be clinical training and learning opportunities with robust assessment of practice overseen by a nominated Consultant educational supervisor. Trainees will have the opportunity to rotate to Neuro and Cardiac Intensive Care as part of their training programme. The post holder will be paid at band 7 (minimum of 3 years) leading to a B8a on completion of required competencies, MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and achievement of FICM membership.

This is a training post in which the practitioner will take responsibility for the medical management of a defined group of critical care patients, under the guidance of the Consultant responsible for the care episode in Critical Care. The trainee ACCP (tACCP) will develop the knowledge and skill required to provide expert clinical management and care to patients requiring levels 1-3 care in Critical Care The post holder will work clinically within Critical Care, in a supernumerary training capacity as a member of the medical team. to complete a clinical portfolio providing evidence of competence against the Faculty of Intensive Care (FICM) ACCP framework whilst working towards a full MSc in Advanced Critical Care Practice The post holder will carry out practical assessments within the workplace and theoretical work with the University.

Additional Information
We opened the 1st phase of a state of the art 31 bedded new build in 2019 with 22 beds caring for adult patients suffering from Major Trauma, complex surgeries, and medical conditions. The 2nd phase for the remaining 9 beds is due to commence in the spring of 2023. GICU has been awarded exemplar status by our Trust accreditation scheme. They are currently fund raising to provide a full rehabilitation area for early mobilisation of the critically ill patient. The unit is a dynamic environment taking daily elective surgical patients together with unplanned admissions from the Emergency department, theatres and ward areas.
The unit has a proactive research department involved in many national and international studies to develop critical care knowledge, research and treatments.
