An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and friendly HCPC registered Therapeutic Radiographer to join our team at Basingstoke Radiotherapy Department, a Satellite centre for University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
The role involves the day-to-day management of the radiotherapy patient workload in pre-treatment and the treatment unit, leading a team of radiographers to deliver safe and state of the art patient centred care.
Across both sites we have a large and very friendly team of radiographers (over 60 clinical radiographers and assistants) delivering high quality radiotherapy treatment to over 2800 cancer patients each year.

- Ability to work under own initiative.

About the team We are a CHKS accredited department delivering highly specialised radiotherapy treatments for a variety of tumour sites. At Basingstoke we have 1 Elekta Linear Accelerator and 1 planning CT scanner equipped with Align RT allowing thermal and surface guided set up and tracking. The team are involved at every step of the radiotherapy pathway from planning to treatment for breast, prostate and palliative patients.
Combined we are the largest radiotherapy centre on the south coast.
There is also the opportunity to rotate to our main site at Southampton where there is a wealth of additional opportunities available in TBI and Oligometastatic SABR. Southampton are also a regional sarcoma centre, a tertiary referral centre for Neuro-oncology (delivering SRS/T) and is also the only centre in the country delivering Intra operative Radiotherapy (IOERT) for Pancreatic and GI tumours.
Southampton are the first centre in the UK to have Exactrac Dynamic in clinical use on 3 of our 7 Linacs providing sub-millimetre correction through stereoscopic imaging with 6 degrees of freedom correction.
The normal department working hours include 7.5 hour shifts between the hours of 0700-2000 (Monday-Saturday). We also provide on call services for MSCC patients during the weekend.
The Trust has a commitment to continuing professional development and evidence-based practice through the provision of regular in-house training courses, access to external courses as well as regular supervision sessions, peer-support meetings and staff appraisal.
