Job summary
We are looking for a skilled and versatile consultant in congenital + adult cardiac anaesthesia and intensive care, with good inter-personal skills, to join this large, friendly and supportive department. The team is fully integrated with the anaesthetic department.
UHS is a highly progressive Trust and the tertiary referral and teaching centre for a large area of the south of England and the Channel Islands. The Trust has over 1100 beds for inpatient services, plus around 45 operating theatres and four intensive care units. The Trust provides every type of tertiary centre care excluding organ transplantation.
UHS is the regional centre for cardiothoracic surgery on the South Coast and has a regional responsibility for delivery of specialist care, education and research. Currently, the unit performs about 1500 cardiac surgical procedures each year (400 paediatric). All aspects of adult and paediatric cardiac surgical services are undertaken except transplant and VAD procedures.

- On GMC Specialist Register for anaesthesia or if in training as a Specialty Registrar, CCT should be due within 6 months of interview date.
- Advanced training and broad experience in adult cardiac anaesthesia and adult cardiac intensive care
- Advanced training and broad experience in congenital cardiac anaesthesia
- Broad experience in the post-operative intensive care management of patients with adult congenital heart disease
- Proficiency in transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) with evidence of formal qualification.
