Applications are welcome for a Consultant Surgeon in spinal surgery, with experience and interest in both adult and paediatric complex deformity spinal surgery.
The Wessex spinal adult service sits as a separate business unit within the division of Trauma and Specialist services and is affiliated with the Wessex Neurological Centre. It has its own ward facilities, OP clinics, advanced nurse practitioner team & Service manager. Junior doctor support comes from both the Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery departments. The service runs its own MDT and business meetings. The on call commitment is 1:8. This post joins a team of 10 surgeons.
The paediatric spinal service is part of Southampton Children's Hospital, and sits within the Paediatric Orthopaedic department. The Children's Hospital is on the Southampton General Hospital site, with dedicated paediatric inpatient and outpatient facilities. This post joins a team of two surgeons
