Applications are invited for a 10 PA Consultant in Respiratory Medicine with an interest in Lung Cancer and ILD to join the Respiratory Department at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHSFT). The applicant will be joining a large department of 26 consultant colleagues including Academic Professors, with multiple sub-specialty interests.
The proposed job plan would include cover for the following services:
- Respiratory/GIM Inpatients
- Respiratory HDU
- Lung Cancer
- ILD
- General Respiratory
- Bronchoscopy
- On-Call cover

WHAT YOULL DO:
This is a full time (10 PA; 8 DCC/2 SPA) post. Part time applicants are also invited. You need to be fully registered with the GMC and have a CCT in General and Respiratory Medicine or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. The applicant will be joining a large department of 26 consultant colleagues including Academic Professors, with multiple sub-specialty interests.
The successful applicant will also join the general respiratory on call rota (1:13). This includes cover for the medical wards out of hours as well as our 9 bedded Respiratory High Dependency Unit (RHDU), the COVID HDU (up to 14 beds) as well as our CF patients both within the hospital and the community.
There are significant opportunities for candidates to develop research interests, given Southamptons international reputation in research or develop roles in teaching/medical education, within or outside the medical school at Southampton.
