An exciting opportunity has arisen for an efficient and committed person to join the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team as a Specialist Clinical Trials Pharmacist in Wessex Research hubs.
University Hospitals Southampton NHS Trust is one of the top research active NHS Trusts in the UK.The Pharmacy has a well-established and dedicated team of pharmacy trial experts to support clinical research. The department helps facilitate over 250 clinical trials within the Trust across all clinical specialities. By integrating your work with the Wessex Research hubs, Southampton Clinical Biomedical Research unit and Welcome Trust Clinical Research Facility you will be able to influence and direct the way clinical trials are conducted, ensuring maximum patient safety and Good Clinical Practice compliance.

For full job description please access JD and PS. your main responsibilities will include (alongside other responsibilities):To be responsible, in conjunction with the Lead Clinical Trials Pharmacist for the provision of a specialist area of clinical trials service delivery as well as clinical trials speciality:a) the development of clinical trials vaccine treatment protocols and guidelines in relation to cancer and infectious diseases research treatments and in conjunction with the e-prescribing system manager. This includes the support for addition of new Vaccine Research Hubsb) education and training of clinical trials pharmacy staff on site as well as local hubs pharmacy staff;c) clinical aspects of research trials in cancer and infectious diseases; to lead on the education and supervision for clinical trials staff including pharmacists, technicians and administration staff on pharmacy management of clinical trials named patient and compassionate use programmes including early access to medicine schemes;d) to act as sponsor pharmacist for UHS sponsored studies including IMP procurement, to be involved in the tendering process, contract and technical negotiations.To travel to and support Wessex Research Hubs teams as required.to plan, recruit and develop a Pharmacy team to support study set up and running in all hubs included on the Wessex Research hubs.to conduct practice research and audit and publish findings.
