Job summary

At UHS we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Pharmacy Support Worker to join our Technical Services team.

Our team offers a wide variety of services including compounding Parenteral Nutrition for neo-nates, paediatrics, oncology, critical care and intestinal failure patients, using automated compounders and aseptic technique.

Our CIVAs service produces IV antibiotic doses for neo-nates, paediatrics, oncology, critical care, and an expanding OPAT service.

We work closely with our service users, including specialist doctors, pharmacists and nurses.

The post will involve working in our aseptic suite; as part of a team of experienced technicians and support workers, in preparing IV antibiotics and Parental Nutrition, prioritising and organising workload under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, and maintaining the appropriate documentation required within an aseptic unit.

The core hours of our service are Monday to Friday 09:00 -1700/1730.

Our department is moving towards 7 day working and all staff are required to contribute to extended hours, weekends and Bank Holidays.

Future service development will require cross or off site working.

  • Commitment to complete NVQ 2 in Pharmacy or other Level 2 approved GPhC qualification for pharmacy support, within 18 months of working

Desirable

  • 2 GCSE's or equivalent grades A* - C or 4-9 in English and Maths (If qualifications gained outside the UK evidence of equivalent standards must be demonstrated at interview)
  • Other healthcare qualifications
  • GCSE's in science-based or other role specific relevant subjects

Previous or relevant experience

Essential

  • Use of information technology in the workplace or within education or voluntary sector
  • Standard keyboard skills

Desirable

  • Previous pharmacy experience (hospital or community)
  • Previous experience in health or social care (if not pharmacy)
