Job summary
The UHS Major Trauma Centre (MTC) is part of the Wessex Trauma Network which serves a population in the region of 2.5M and includes 10 hospitals, 3 ambulance services and 2 air ambulances across five counties.The MTC has an exciting opportunity to recruit an apprentice administrator to work across all areas of the Major Trauma supporting the MTC, the Wessex Trauma Network and with the inputting of simple data into Trauma Audit and Research Network (TARN).
You will work closely with a wide variety of staff to help the trauma office and network in its aim to provide the very best care to patients with major trauma. The successful candidate will need to possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills, be IT literate on all MS office systems and be willing to learn or possess skills in administering a website and social media channels. The ability to work independently, bring personal motivation, energy and a desire for success to the position is essential.

The successful candidate will work harmoniously with the UHS Major Trauma Centre and Wessex Trauma Network teams.
You will support the MTC / WTN Manager in administering the associated meetings and ensuring staff and governance records are up to date. You will support the MTC / WTN education coordinator to prepare and support the MT academy.
You will be locating specified clinical and non-clinical information from a number of sources and systems and then inputting this into the national trauma database TARN. This information includes details of traumatic injuries to adults and children. This post will not be responsible for dispatching TARN Cases.
Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria:
All applicants must be:
- Aged 16+.
- Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three consecutive years.
- Must not have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level or above.
- Must not be in any form of formal government-funded education upon the start of their apprenticeship.
Experience and skills required / to be developed:
- Working in a busy, target focused environment.
- Familiarity with hospital systems and application Microsoft Office suite to a busy office.
- We are looking for individuals with the ability to work well under pressure, and be able to work well in a team with a desire to provide a first class service for patients and clinical teams.
