Job summary
An opportunity has arisen at University Hospital Southampton, NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced band 6 nurse or current band 7 looking for a fresh opportunity to join our Cancer Care team. This is an exciting chance to lead our haematology day case unit.
C7 is a busy haematology day care unit that undertakes multiple procedures and treatments. C7 consists of treatment bay of 7 chairs where patients receive Systemic Anti Cancer Treatment (SACT), Aphersis Bay of 3 treatment spaces and two side rooms where Intrathecal chemotherapy and bone marrow biopsies take place. C7 also provide an on call service for emergency Apheresis procedures. We are committed to providing the highest quality care in a supportive and fast paced environment. Staff development and education is a key priority with the current development of Ambulatory Care.
The unit is open Monday - Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am-4pm and on call hours.

You will provide the day-to-day operational & strategic management for C7 ensuring a high quality, evidence based and cost-effective service for patients and their families.
You will need to be able to demonstrate clinical expertise and provide innovative and dynamic nursing leadership.
You will be responsible for leading and managing a team of nurses in professional and practice development. You will lead on developments within the unit to provide the required services to the patients utilising the service.

You must have leadership experience at a Band 6 or 7. You will develop your leadership, clinical and management skills, whilst effectively undertaking the day-to-day coordination of the unit.
Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills are vital.
You will be expected to deputise for the care group matrons as needed. In the wider Trust you will be expected to contribute towards the delivery of the Trusts vision of Patients First, Always Improving and Working Together and positively reinforce the Cancer Nursing Vision.
