Job summary

An new opportunity has arisen to lead the Pulmonary Function Team at Southampton General Hospital. The post is offered on a full time permanent basis with University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).

As a service we provide a wide range of respiratory diagnostic tests in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our Respiratory Physiology Service is currently expanding, and we are looking for a Lead Respiratory Physiologist to join the team.

  • ARTP Part 1 and 2 or ARTP Professional Examination

  • PgDip/MSc in relevant subject or equivalent specialist experience and knowledge
  • Teaching and Training Qualifications or equivalent experience

Previous or relevant experience necessary

  • Extensive post qualification experience as band 6
  • Extensive experience in performing, interpreting and reporting of complex and highly complex pulmonary function tests, autonomously and independently
  • Experience in performing bronchial challenge test and cardiopulmonary exercise testing
  • Experience in providing formal and informal training to staff, healthcare practitioners, students and other carer groups
  • Experience in managing a team/service
  • Experience in producing SOPs, in-house protocols and staff training plans

Desirable

  • Expert knowledge of diagnostic equipment for pulmonary function testing, including software and hardware
  • Experience of participating in research, service evaluation and audit
