Job summary

Pathology IT at University Hospital Southampton is bringing in new technologies and we need people to join us during this exciting time. You'll be involved in new deployments and systems so quick learning of these to be able to support users will be key.

We're looking for an IT Application Support Technician to help with these changes, preferably with experience in Laboratory Information Management Systems, who will help UHS Pathology during these changes.

This role is part of a growing team who support the 500+ staff across the laboratory, providing a vital service to the hospital and local community.

Qualifications / training required

Essential

  • Knowledge of one or more computer system(s) such as Windows 7, Windows 10 or similar operating systems, hardware or software, acquired through degree or equivalent experience / qualification
  • Advanced European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent knowledge

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential

  • A demonstrable knowledge of programming and databases is desirable. For example: Microsoft VB / C# .Net, Javascript / JQuery, Relational database programming and design with Microsoft SQL Server
  • A working knowledge of Change and Configuration management
  • A working knowledge of Incident and problem management
  • A working knowledge of Business Continuity
  • A working knowledge of The NHS
  • A working knowledge of Trust Policies and Procedures
  • A working knowledge of Understanding of the importance of Patient confidentiality
