This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic pharmacist to join the paediatric oncology and haematology team at Southampton Children's Hospital, on a fixed term or secondment basis to cover maternity leave. You will work with the specialist paediatric haematology and oncology pharmacist within our regional specialist oncology centre and liaising with the 12 Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Units.

ABOUT THE TEAM
Southampton Childrens Hospital is a major centre for specialist paediatric services in the south of England, providing acute specialist care to our local population in Southampton as well as a much larger area, including the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.
The Child Health Pharmacy team is well established, providing specialist pharmacy services within the paediatric multidisciplinary teams to provide high quality patient care. The team is forward thinking and supportive, working together to improve the services we offer to patients.
WHAT YOULL DO The successful candidate will provide patient focused clinical care to the paediatric oncology and haematology ward and will join the large MDT looking after children with cancer in Southampton and the surrounding area.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Work closely with the specialist paediatric haematology and oncology pharmacist, providing a clinical pharmacy service to children with cancer and non-malignant haematology conditions.
- Attend consultant led ward rounds and MDT meeting.
- Develop evidence-based treatment guidelines in conjunction with specialist consultants
- Screen and order chemotherapy.
- Support the development of the Aria e-prescribing system in collaboration with the system manager.
- Support the role out of clinical trials for children with cancer.
The post holder will need to have good communication and team working skills to liaise closely with clinical trials, aseptic manufacturing and outpatient pharmacies, as well as our 12 Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Units.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR You must be enthusiastic and committed to team working with good attention to details and communication skills combined with experience in either paediatrics or oncology. Previous experience in parenteral nutrition would be desirable. We are able to provide training and staff development; experienced paediatric pharmacists and rotational staff will support you in this role.
