The Wessex Spinal Service is looking to employ an Apprentice Patient Pathway Coordinator (PPC).This apprenticeship is suitable for those wish to obtain their Business Administrator Level 3 qualification.
ABOUT THE TEAM
UHS is the Regional Centre for complex spinal surgery and provides a wide range of specialist adult and paediatric services across the Wessex region.
The spinal service sits as a separate business unit within the division of Trauma and Specialist services. It has its own ward facilities, OP clinics, advanced nurse practitioner team & Service manager.
At present the admin service is open Monday-Friday 9am and 6pm therefore the successful candidate for this post will be required to work 9am-5pm with 1 day dedicated to study.

The role will work within a dedicated administration team to facilitate the smooth running of the patient journey by ensuring that coordinated and streamlined administrative processes revolve around the patient and their individual needs.
You will be expected to organise your workload with the consultants and their team and co-ordinate their activities with other PPCs to ensure that an efficient service is provided.
What were looking for We are looking for dynamic, energetic and enthusiastic individuals with a mature, responsible and flexible outlook to join our busy and challenging department. You should have a caring, courteous manner with a thorough understanding of good customer service skills. The role is varied and busy and you will need to have a flexible approach to a demanding workload with changing priorities. If you have the organisational skills to keep a busy professional environment running smoothly, then we would love to hear from you.
You will be proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office and have excellent communication skills. Your ability to prioritise and multi-task should be second to none and include excellent diary and office management skills.
You must be educated to GCSE standard to include English Language and possess at least RSA II typing certificate or equivalent. Previous experience with software packages would be an advantage and knowledge of medical terminology is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and should be able to integrate well with the existing teams, be flexible in supporting the functions of the unit and have a genuine desire to contribute to providing a quality service for patients. You will need to comply with the 18wk targets, monitor 18wks performance and you will be required to liaise with patients, GPs and hospital staff.
