This position comes with a relocation package for the right candidate
Within the service specification, UHS's role in caring for patient's with type 2 and type 3 intestinal failure is supportive of a large geographical area alongside an established 17 bedded intestinal failure unit, where patients are assessed for continued treatments. This lead position is therefore vital in ensuring a quality service for all who access it. You will be predominately be working Monday - Friday with a designated, multiprofessional team.

Your Responsibilities:
Through a strong clinical presence, as the lead CNS of this Nutritional and IF service, your specialist knowledge and expertise would guide and develop an autonomous nursing team. This role safeguards the coordination and delivery of inpatient care, ensuring a seamless transition from tertiary services to primary care. You would actively work with the care group management and Matron team alongside specialist clinical leads to advise and support, utilising relevant evidence base, with the strategic development of the IF service at UHS to ensure clinical excellence and consistency in approach to patient care.
What youll do:
As the successful post holder, you will be required to work with national leads, UHS dedicated IF clinicians and surgeons, dietitians, pharmacists, psychology and psychiatric teams, supporting patient decision making, moving care forward. Through the utilisation of your expert clinical knowledge and leadership experiences there is the expectation to develop and professionally manage a designated specialist IF nursing team, advancing knowledge base through education and identified opportunities. As the lead nurse specialist, your expertise would guide and advance quality agendas through research and audit in nutrition and intestinal failure, both at a local and national level with strong focuses on improving outcomes and patient experience whilst streamlining pathways.
The post holder would work a percentage of their time clinically with the wider multi-professional team being the autonomous practitioner able to plan and deliver specialist in patient care ensuring a seamless inpatient pathway. The role needs to be responsive to home care patients needs, working closely with the service coordinator in addressing immediate concerns, coordinating care with medics, regional services, home care providers and other specialists either locally or regionally as required.
