This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join our team of paediatric pharmacists on a fixed term basis to work within paediatrics and our tertiary paediatric neurology team based within Southampton Children's Hospital.
ABOUT THE TEAM Southampton Children's Hospital is a major centre for specialist paediatric services in the south of England, providing acute specialist care not only to our local population in Southampton but for a much larger area, including the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.
The Child Health Pharmacy team is well established, providing specialist pharmacy services within the paediatric multidisciplinary teams to provide high quality patient care. The team is forward thinking and supportive, working together to improve the services we offer to patients.

Your Responsibilities What youll do
The successful applicant will provide a specialist clinical pharmacy service to both paediatric neurology in- patients and out-patients, providing expert pharmaceutical advice in highly complex cases and supporting patients to get the best from their medication.
This post also includes:
- Attending multidisciplinary ward rounds.
- Developing evidence-based treatment guidelines and shared care guidelines in conjunction with specialist consultants.
- Teaching pharmacists/students and members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Overseeing the use of high-cost drugs within neurology, co-ordinating the set up and use of compassionate use/early access to medicines schemes and supply of medication via homecare companies.
- Opportunities to develop a pharmacist prescriber role within the paediatric neurology team.
- Active membership of the paediatric pharmacy team.
- Audit and research opportunities.
