Job summary
We have an opportunity for an experienced dietitian to join our regional service as an intestinal failure (IF) specialist dietitian and a key member of our multidisciplinary team based at Southampton General Hospital. We will consider applicants looking for full-time or part-time hours.
University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust has a nationally designated Intestinal Failure Service providing home parenteral nutrition to patients across the South of England for over 25 years. We have a 17-bed unit for patients with intestinal failure providing care for patients during assessment for parenteral nutrition, acute illness or post-operatively.You will work with 3 other IF dietitians as members of the Nutrition Support and Intestinal Failure Team (NSIFT) supporting the specialist inpatient and outpatient service. We work closely with the wider acute adult dietetic team which is the largest team in our integrated department of dietetics and spech and language therapy.

Provide complex nutritional support (enteral and parenteral) to adults with intestinal failure and manage the transition from parenteral to oral nutrition for post reconstructive surgery

The intestinal failure service has strong links with the biomedical research centre for nutrition based at Southampton General Hospital and you will have the opportunity to participate in service evaluation, audit, and research and to present at local, national, and international meetings
What were looking for:
The post holder will be a qualified dietitian, currently registered with the HCPC, with relevant CPD, postgraduate development and clinical and leadership experience. This will include evidence of advanced skills and knowledge related to complex enteral and parenteral nutrition support. Prior experience of working with patients with intestinal failure is required. Aside from strong clinical skills we need someone who is a good team player, with evidence of being able to manage a busy caseload, delivering on both clinical and non-clinical responsibilities. You will have excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary team working. You will need to be flexible in your approach and have insight into the challenges of managing adults with a complex chronic disease or condition.
