Job summary

The opportunity has arisen to work in our specialist audiology department providing complex paediatric and vestibular services. This could be an ideal role for someone with previous experience or who has recently finished the STP who wishes to develop their knowledge and skills further.

This role is offered on a fixed-term basis for 9 months.

We are a friendly team of Audiologists and Clinical scientists providing a high quality diagnostic and rehabilitation service for adults and children based at the Royal South Hants Hospital. This is a dynamic department constantly looking to improve the service we provide our patients and were looking for someone who shares that ethos. The service is a training centre for the STP programme and provides training to local medical students. We are involved in a number of research projects and have recently taken over as editorial team for the BSA Audacity magazine, and there will be opportunity to get involved with this if you are interested.

You will also carry out vestibular assessment and rehabilitation and diagnostic assessment such as speech audiometry. This may be with support or indirect supervision from a senior member of staff if needed initially. Youll provide relevant reports based on your findings to medical and other professionals make onward referrals as appropriate, and liaise with other teams to ensure the best care for our patients.

You may also have the opportunity to participate in service development, and be involved in teaching and training audiology and medical students.

The role is full-time, 37.5 hours worked over 4 days, however we would consider applications from individuals who would prefer part time hours.

In addition, were looking for you to:

  • be passionate about patient care

  • be keen to develop your own skills and input into the development of our service

  • have recent clinical experience of working in paediatric and/or vestibular services

Youll also need great communication skills with patients and peers, the ability to write accurate and comprehensive reports, and the ability to cope with the pressure of a varied workload.
