Due to the retirement of the current post-holder, we have a unique opportunity for a permanent Band 8A Principal Clinical Scientist to join our Nuclear Medicine Physics team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious HCPC Registered Clinical Scientist to join our growing Nuclear Medicine Physics section of the Department of Medical Physics. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nuclear Medicine Physicist, ideally working at MPE-level, and looking to progress their career working in a major teaching centre with excellent opportunities for research and development.
The successful candidate will work as a member of a friendly team of clinical scientists responsible for the medical physics provision of work with unsealed radioactive substances, primarily at UHS, and on occasion supporting outside centres.

You will support and develop our clinical services, particularly our expanding Molecular Radiotherapy (MRT) service, and contribute to the groups growing involvement in diagnostic and molecular radiotherapy research. It is anticipated that you will have in depth knowledge of current practice in diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine and experience of providing complex scientific advice. Experience of practical Radiation Protection and radionuclide therapy dosimetry are also essential. On occasion, you will be expected to travel between customers by car and ferry / plane.
Candidates working towards MPE certification and candidates post HCPC registration will be considered for appointment at an appropriate band.
