Job summary

In this high profile role, youll be working closely with the Director of EFCD (Estates, Facilities & Capital Development) and the EFCD senior management team operating at a senior level within the organisation and beyond.

We are looking for an exceptional and inspirational Associate Director of Estates to join our team at UHS NHS Foundation Trust. The Associate Director of Estates will provide senior operational leadership to the Trusts estates infrastructure across the organisation and play a key and visible role within our senior management team. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for the effective delivery of all the Trust's estates services and support the development and delivery of our strategy across the Trust and in conjunction with the Integrated Care System. You will lead the Trust's work in ensuring that patients are cared for in an estate that is safe and well presented. You will be effective in motivating teams to deliver consistently high standards.

The team is developing innovative ways of delivering a quality service, meeting our compliance requirements, providing value for money and developing our team to achieve sustainably high standards of professional performance and ensuring that staff can achieve their own work life goals.

With direct budgetary responsibility and control of the estates budgets and assets, the Trust has a record of strong financial performance. You will be key in managing the team so that value for money is delivered consistently.

You will manage and control strategic planning for your department, supporting emerging strategies of the Trust through physical projects management and high-level coordination with other Divisions. A key part of this role is building relationships with clinical staff and other specialists so that you can support them in delivering world class care.

Working closely with the Compliance team, you will be responsible for the information documentation and evidence systems to ensure that the Trust Board are assured of their legal responsibilities in respect to the Estates statutory compliance. Qualifications

Essential

  • A degree in Engineering (or equivalent examined qualification)
  • Postgraduate Qualification in Management, with evidence of training in such fields as Business or HR Management (eg PG Dip or PG Cert), Finance/Budget Management, Works Health and Safety Management (eg Nebosh) or Project Management (eg Prince 2 Practitioner).
  • Demonstrating of CPD in a Works Management field.
  • Formal training (verified and demonstrated by Personal Log) to achieve additional specialist knowledge through a broad range of short courses and/or self-study. E.g. - Electrical - High/Low Voltage, Electrical Regs, Building Services, Control Systems - Mechanical - Air Conditioning & Ventilation, Medical Gas & Vacuum, Steam & Water boilers & systems, Hot/Cold Water systems, Energy management, Gas Safe Regulations. - Infection Control - Sterilisers & Disinfection, Legionnaires Disease, Asbestos Safety - Health & Safety in works management environments.

Desirable

  • Registration as a Chartered Engineer achieved through election to Corporate Membership of a Licensed Institute of the UK Engineering Council.
  • Masters Degree in Engineering or equivalent, or MBA
  • Elected to corporate level of Engineering Institute such as IET, IMechE, or CIBSE.
  • Able to demonstrate a broad range of awareness and training in parallel fields such as Building or Civil Engineering, capital construction, site management and Business Management
