University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust are recruiting a NIHR CRN Wessex Clinical Research Fellow in Anaesthesia
Combined (50:50) research:clinical role:
- To support local NIHR Portfolio trial delivery in anaesthesia/perioperative medicine
- To support ongoing anaesthesia workload including senior or middle grade trainee rotas and where possible the obstetric rota.

What youll do
Research:
NIHR Portfolio clinical trial recruitment and delivery (see below), targeting strategically important pragmatic perioperative interventional trials led by our team. The post holder will also have the opportunity and support to develop their own research project.
Clinical:
This post will allow the post holder to gain experience in the wide variety of anaesthetic subspecialties in UHS. There will be opportunity for teaching lists accompanied by Consultants as well as a proportion of solo lists with distant Consultant supervision.
The post holder will be expected to work as part of the on call rotas in Anaesthesia, ideally to include obstetric on call. This post is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service determined by the UHS NHS FT Board.
Clinical and Research Duties
The details of the job plan on a day to day basis will be agreed after the interview and will be by mutual agreement between the successful appointee and the Clinical Leads. The post-holder will be required to participate in medical audit and continuing medical education, as well as continuing professional development and cross specialty teaching and training.
