Community Forensic Occupational Therapist

Job summary

We are currently looking for a dynamic individual to contribute to the implementation of Occupational Therapy provision to a complex caseload of patients requiring specialist forensic support as part of a multi-disciplinary team. To provide physical, psychological and emotional safety for our patients to empower individuals to re-establish control of their lives.

This dynamic individual will work across the existing community forensic service in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. To ensure the effective delivery of occupational therapy in accordance with quality practices and procedures working with the Community Forensic Team.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check.

Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Main duties of the job

  • To be supervised by and work alongside Occupational Therapy Clinical Specialist
  • To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of individuals who have complex forensic risk issues.
  • To provide occupational therapy assessment, interventions and evaluation, providing advice and support to service users, carers and other agencies.
  • To work across the Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Community Forensic Teams.
  • To contribute towards offering fieldwork placements to OT students.
  • To identify and deliver individualised occupational treatment goals as part of a service users pathway through the service.
  • To engage service users meaningfully and positively to enhance quality of life, reduce risk and improve mental and physical wellbeing.
  • Deliver duty cover to the service bases.
  • The successful candidate will act also a designated care coordinator as directed by team manager to provide specialist assessment and access to interventions for a diverse patient group and their families under the care programme approach, who present with significant mental health problems/disorders as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team.

  • The post holder will be required to recognise when an individual requires increased levels of support to promote a sustainable lifestyle in the Community.

  • The service provides care to people from diverse variety of backgrounds and cultures and we would encourage a diverse range of applicants to apply. The Services consist of a Multi-Disciplinary group of staff with a supportive and friendly environment.
