Job summary

We have a rare opportunity which has arisen within our regional medium secure Hospital for an experienced nurse to join our multi-disciplinary team.

We are looking for a B7 ward manager to lead our busy Assessment ward and ICU which are at the front end of our service, supporting our most vulnerable patients. The role is varied, challenging and fast paced. The successful candidate will have extensive experience working in mental health, they will be resilient, reliable and they will be a compassionate leader.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Main duties of the job

As a Ward Manager, you will:

Have 24-hour managerial responsibility for the ward (24 hour responsibility for the Hospital when on-call)

Provide a visible and accessible leadership presence in ward settings to patients, carers and staff

Provide effective direct management to the direct care staff on the ward

Ensure that excellent standards of care are maintained on the ward at all times

You will be required to complete mandatory training to assist your professional development.
