To provide strategic leadership, placing an emphasis on integration of physical health and mental health to organisational strategy, service development and ongoing service delivery, achieving high quality care and patient safety.
To work in conjunction with the nursing leadership team, operational managers and other relevant stakeholders. To be a key clinical leader within the Hospital, responsible for assuring a focus on quality, safety and patient experience
To support the development of the infection control strategy, providing a comprehensive infection, prevention control programme to meet the relevant core and development Standards for Better Health and relevant criteria from the NHS Litigation Authority. The Health and Social Care Act 2008 and the emerging requirements of the Care and Quality Commission.
To lead, promote, develop knowledge and management in respect of physical healthcare across all areas of Rampton Hospital. The patient population is from a diverse social, religious and ethnic background and this is recognised through communications and interventions.
Main duties of the job
Have responsibility for ensuring that the highest quality of physical care is delivered by clinical teams and clinical support services e.g. Dentistry, Optometry.
Ensure close and positive links are developed and maintained with local acute healthcare providers, monitor effectiveness, standards and quality of service.
Work to strengthen the knowledge base surrounding physical healthcare and will directly support all the clinical teams with training, advice and nursing leadership on physical healthcare.
To be responsible for the application of appropriate NICE Guidance ensuring NICE Guidelines relevant to physical healthcare where appropriate contribute to the development of treatment plans and clinical interventions to meet patient identified needs, to include health promotion programmes and interventions.
Will consult with Nursing & Allied Health Executive Group and Senior Management Group in ensuring physical healthcare issues are considered as part of ongoing service quality improvement strategy, and they will take a lead role on clinical governance issues surrounding physical healthcare.
Develop the strategy, lead and line manage the physical healthcare team at Rampton Hospital, providing timely and accurate updates as necessary to the Deputy Director of Nursing for Forensic Services and link closely with the infection control team including the Associate Director for Infection Prevention and Control
