Liaison & Diversion Crown Court Practitioner

Job summary

We are looking for an innovative and motivated Crown Court Practitioner to support the Crown and Magistrates Court arm of the Nottinghamshire Liaison and Diversion (L&D) service.

The L&D service is a community based multi-disciplinary team delivering assessment, sharing information, referring, and supporting vulnerable people of all ages at all points of the criminal justice system up until sentencing or diversion. To provide consultation, advice, support and recommendations to the court departments and criminal justice agencies to help effectively manage defendants with suspected/identified vulnerabilities. The overall aim of the service is toprevent health and social inequalities, offering support at the earliest point of the criminal justice system.

This role has a focus on consultation, advice, support and recommendations to the court departments and criminal justice agencies to help effectively manage defendants with suspected/identified vulnerabilities. Key to this service success is close partnership working with justice agencies, health and social care and third sector voluntary agencies.

The service delivery is in line with the Liaison and Diversion National Operating model, though there is a lot of scope for innovative,creative thinking and implementation.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will form part of a wider supportive Liaison & Diversion Team both where peer support and learning is encouraged. The post holder will work closely with Team Managers, Clinical Lead and Service Manager to develop and improve the L&D service. Through this senior role, will support the Team Manger in the support and management of Magistrate's Court team/staff.

Suitable applicants will be/have:

Qualified RMN/RNLD, Occupational Therapist/AHP or Social Workerexperience of working with people with mental health problems, particularly working with service users with complex presentations/engagement issues.

Specialist knowledge to master's level or equivalent obtained through study, training and/or experience.

Experience of working as a senior clinician in a multi-disciplinary team.reliable and motivated

Skilled in undertaking detailed assessments to inform the service users treatment plan and formulation

Demonstrate high functioning in risk assessment/managementskills to contain and manage high levels of emotional distress and disturbance in self and others

Compassionate, person-centered individual who is hard working and can be flexible in their approach to working therapeutically with service users with history of trauma, complex attachment patterns/difficulties and those experiencing mental health crises

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
