Secondment / Fixed Term Band 8a PMO Programme Manager

Job summary

Planning & Partnerships are looking for a Band 8a Programme Manager to join the team on a secondment / fixed term contract until end of March 2026. The funding for this role will cease by 31 March 2026 & the contract will not be extended beyond this date.

The post holder will join the PMO office at Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust providing comprehensive project & programme management advice, guidance, information & support to the Integrated Improvement Plan (IIP) Programme & Project leads as well as the Executive SROs & Programme Directors.

The post holder will take on the role of Programme Manager within the IIP Programmes as required & will prepare & present project & programme related reports & documentation on a range of issues relevant to the Trust as a whole, including the facilitation of task & finish groups, project boards, delivery groups & workshops where necessary.

The post holder will be expected to demonstrate the value of effective project management techniques to all leads across the programme, normalising this approach towards service improvement through the introduction and maintenance of necessary project management disciplines and practices.

The post holder will work closely with key stakeholders across the Trust & wider ICS to cultivate positive business relations across organisational boundaries in order to maximise influence & support, underpinned by credibility, trust & respect.

Main duties of the job

The PMO sits within the Trust's Planning & Partnerships Team. It is a small team currently focused on the Trust's Integrated Improvement Plan development and deployment and our strategic partnerships and works closely with relevant SROs and colleagues in Care Groups and corporate directorates across the Trust, and with PMO leads in the wider system.

The post holder will work closely with specific IIP Programmes as directed by the Head of PMO and will be expected to work flexibly with travel to various locations as determined by the business needs.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

  • Provide dedicated Programme Management support to the IIP Programmes as directed by the Head of PMO.
  • Undertake regular project and programme plan assessments with the relevant Project and Programme leads.
  • Provide accurate, timely and appropriate monitoring reports, briefings and presentations, including escalation as required, to a range of audiences both internally and externally as required.
  • Support the PMO to embed the agreed common set of programme and project management tools, methodology and documentation to help streamline programme management practice across the Trust.
  • Ensure that all projects have properly completed project plans with clear timescales and milestones in place, that risks have been identified and mitigated, interdependencies are identified and managed and project benefits are described and tracked.
  • Critically review projects and provide expertise in project and programme management to ensure projects are designed appropriately to deliver the intended benefits, aligned to organisational goals.
  • Analyse highly complex facts or situations which require analysis, interpretation, comparison of a range of options and recommendations where there are conflicting views on the project and there is a need to make decisions on complex issues.

  • Develop and maintain communications with project and programme leads and other stakeholders including Executive SROs, building effective and collaborative relationships in order to support implementation and delivery of the IIP.
