Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist wanting to develop their expertise and experience within a specialist CAMHS service. We will consider developing this role as a preceptorship post Band 7-8a and welcome applications from trainee clinical psychologists about to qualify in September 2025. The post holder will contribute to the assessment & intervention for children & young people up to 18 yrs across a broad range of presentations within the Community & Specialist CAMHS team (30hrs pw).
The postholder will contribute (7.5hrs) to the CAMHS ADHD Specialist Team (CAST), including specialist assessment and consultation for children & young people presenting with query ADHD. In addition to undertaking diagnostic assessment the psychologist will contribute to developing alternative formulations. Knowledge of neurodevelopmental difficulties, attachment theory, trauma and cognitive functioning will be important. The post holder will join existing clinical psychologists and be part of a multidisciplinary team.
You will join an integrated and supportive group of 17 Clinical Psychologists working across the Nottingham City and multi-disciplinary CAMHS service. There are good opportunities for CPD, strong mechanisms for support and good links with the DClinpsy courses.
The post holder is required to hold a post graduate doctorate in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS and have Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of Community CAMHS by providing a clinical psychology service to children, young people, and their families. To also provide support to children and young people's care systems which will include direct and indirect clinical work, consultation, supervision, and training of others. To participate and undertake clinically relevant research/audits and specific clinical lead roles that support the community Team Leads and Professional Lead in developing the service.
Experience in working with children, young people, their families /carers and supporting networks is essential.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
