Speech & Language Therapist for Hercules CAMHS Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 9 months maternity cover as a Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist in the Adolescent Inpatient Unit in Nottingham.
The post will provide specialist input into the PICU and would complement the currently advertised B7 SLT Post with CAMHS Head to Head. The CAMHS Adolescent Inpatients Unit provides support to young people aged 12 to 18 who are experiencing a range of mental health and emotional difficulties. This is a dynamic environment with experienced, supportive multi-disciplinary teams. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic individual who is passionate about delivering high quality services to children and young people.The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist SLT assessment, formulation and diagnosis and subsequent intervention/management programmes alongside the wider MDT.
Main duties of the job
You will be contributing to a multi-disciplinary service supporting children and young people accessing CAMHS. This will include:
Carrying out individual Speech and Language Therapy assessments and produce reports and recommendations for implementing communication reasonable adjustments
Providing specific speech and language therapy interventions to individuals where appropriate
Liaison and advice with families, carers, and health care colleagues in how to support CYP with SLCN with/without neurodevelopmental differences in order to facilitate reasonable adjustments and increased access to services.
SLTs in CAMHS are a core part of the multi-disciplinary team, supporting the understanding of the patients communication needs, contributing towards neurodiversity diagnostic assessment and writing neuro-affirming reports, using a neuro affirmative approach to support individuals and people in their lives to understand their neurodevelopmental and communication differences.
