Job summary

Mental Health Services for Older People is a major provider of specialist mental health services for older people in the Nottinghamshire area. The service caters to the needs of all people suffering from dementia, regardless of age and those presenting with severe mental health illnesses. Services are provided in an in-patient and community basis and comprise of:

  • In-patient services-
  • Intensive Home Treatment Team
  • Rapid Response Liaison Psychiatry
  • Community Mental Health Teams
  • Memory Assessment Services
  • Working Age Dementia Service
  • Dementia Outreach Services
  • Psychological Therapies

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen to be part of the Community Mental Health Team within the Gedling and Hucknall locality. The service is for older adults with acute mental health needs and is delivered in their own homes, with a focus on reducing the need for hospital admissions. You will contribute to assessments and interventions, undertaking nursing, therapy and social activities as delegated by the relevant profession. You will frequently work without direct supervision in the community and be required to work in a flexible and holistic way in order to respond to this client group's needs.

The Community Mental Health Team operates 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday.

Some knowledge of the mental and physical problems associated with older people and the risks associated with community working are required. Recent significant experience of caring for older adults with mental health needs is very desirable for this post.
