Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, friendly, and approachable individual to join a dynamic, small, friendly, and efficient team, assisting in delivering a quality library and knowledge service.

Thepost holder will be involved in the day to day running of the library enquiry desk, as well as being involved in delivering, improving, and promoting the full range of library services and resources.

This role is the first point of contact for library users, the ideal candidate will have a high standard of customer service skills, excellent communication skills, good IT skills, with the ability to learn quickly and a willingness to continually update their skills and knowledge.

This post provides an ideal opportunity to anyone interested in gaining experience and developing new skills working in a busy and diverse information service.

The post is based at Duncan Macmillan House Staff Library, Nottingham, but maybe very occasionally be required to work at the Rampton Staff Library, Retford.

Please note this post does not meetskilllevel required for a Skilled worker visa. Applicants requiring a Skilled Worker visa will usually need to be in a role which is at Band 3 or above,however please note not all Band 3 roles are capable of sponsorship. Main duties of the job

  • Play a key role in the day to day delivery of the library enquiry desk, and maintain library materials by processing new stock, shelving and shelf tidying.
  • Provide an effective enquiry service resolving general queries and referring complex queries to the appropriate member of the professional team.
  • Assist with the day to day OpenAthens administration.
  • Administrative and clerical duties in relation to the library management system and the acquisition and management of library resources.
  • Provide basic instruction on accessing electronic resources.
  • Computer and photocopier troubleshooting.
  • Collate statistics on all library activities and key performance indicators.
  • Assist in the promotion of the Library service through social media and induction.
  • A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
