Job summary
The purpose of this role :
To provide a defined level of specialist assessment and access to interventions for transgender patients.
To be a Transgender Healthcare Professional and work as part of the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health service to support patients in line with the NHS England national service specification.
The role requires the post holder to be a named professional for patients and undertake both assessment and follow-up responsibilities for an identified case load of transgender and non-binary patients.
The role involves monitoring cross sex hormone treatment for trans male trans female and nonbinary patients.
The post holder will be part of the team providing a service to patients and, on occasions their families, including direct and indirect clinical work that supports the Clinical Lead and Service Manager in developing the service.
To demonstrate active clinical and managerial leadership skills within the team, providing education and supervision, where required, to junior team members and other professionals.
Main duties of the job
To assess, design, implement safe, creative, and effective treatment plans in collaboration with the patients' needs.
Manage a diverse caseload of patients ensuring a high standard of clinical care.
Work as a team member being flexible to the needs of the team.
To maintain accurate, timely and relevant clinical records both written and computerized. To maintain the safe custody of healthcare records
Support the implementation of team objectives within the multi-disciplinary specialist team
To maintain NMC registration
To potentially work as an independent Non-Medical Prescriber within this field
To provide appropriate and relevant support, where appropriate to peers and non-registered team members
Compliance with best practice directions (WPATH and NICE) and participation in quality initiatives
To undertake any other duties that would be a reasonable expectation of the role.

The Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health is a national service for people experiencing gender incongruence. There are 7 nationally commissioned NHS England clinics across the country, of which, we are the second largest.
We are also leading on a number of pilots that aim to address a national waiting list issue for patients to be seen sooner than our current 2 year waiting time. The service provides specialist assessment, care and treatment with an experienced and varied MDT which includes Consultant Psychiatrists, Associate Doctors, Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Speech and Language Therapists. The work of the clinic is supported by our administration team who are based in a community clinic, based in Nottingham City Centre.
Patients come from all over the country and we provided a blended model of face to face and video consultation appointments. The clinics run 5 days a week, so it is a busy working environment which requires high levels of confidentiality and person skills.
As one of the team you will undertake the provision and planning of assessment, care, and treatment for transgender patients. Whilst having direct face to face and video work with patients and potentially undertake independent Non-Medical Prescribing.
Provide advice concerning the assessment, care, and treatment of patients with gender incongruence.
Hold a caseload to develop individualized care pathways, with patientinvolvement, whilstproviding advice and guidance in relation to transgender healthcare.
Assess and monitor risk and escalate as per Trust safeguarding procedures.
Liaise with and refer to other professionals, as appropriate within and outside of the clinic to ensure effective care and treatment for patients attending the clinic.
Assess, design, implement and evaluate safe creative and effective treatments plans in collaboration with the patients diverse needs, family, and other professionals.
This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust and have not been an employee of the Trust in the previous 3 years. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.
